THE ROUTE

L'Etape Denmark by Tour de France is a cyclosportive event which will be held on Saturday 29. June 2024 with all routes finishing in Viborg. The race will be timed and organised on roads which are open to traffic but assisted by race marshalls and traffic officials. This means, you can experience other road users and are permitted to follow the general traffic rules and regulations, follow the instructions from the organizers and show respect to your fellow cyclists.

The event routes cover between 300 and 50 kilometres. The details of the routes will be presented on the event’s website and its social networks later on.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

Anyone can take part in the event. Children under fifteen years-old (15-years-old) on the day of the event can participate together with an adult.

At the end of the event, several rankings will be established:

  • Women’s and men’s scratch rankings for the yellow jersey: a ranking based on the official time achieved by the participant (the official time having as a starting point the pistol marking the start of the race, regarless of the actual start time of the race for the participant). The first three women and the first three men to cross the finish line in Viborg will be celebrated during the official award ceremony.
  • The polka dot jersey: a ranking will be established based on the cumulative times for the timed ascents of some of the major climbs of the route. There will not be a prize giving ceremony for this challenge.
  • The green jersey: a ranking will be established based on the cumulative times for a number of timed flat sections on the route. There will not be a prize giving ceremony for this challenge.
BIB NUMBER COLLECTION

Bib numbers as well as timing chips must be collected, upon presentation of the following:

  • Your starting number, which you will receive in your receipt and in a special email sent before the event.

Race numbers can only be collected in the dedicated area in the starting villages.

The allocation of race numbers is firm and definitive. Race numbers cannot be sent by post or sent on the day of the event.

The race number must be placed on your back and will be mandatory in order to access the feeding station and the finish area and must remain completely visible throughout the race, including in the event of bad weather.

TIMING - FEED STATIONS - TIME LIMIT

Timing will be done using an electronic detection system.

The whole route will be timed and will give rise to the final ranking. A select number of flat and climbing sections will also be timed and count towards the green and polka dot jersey competitions.

Feeding stations are set up along the whole route for all the participants.

The finish line must be crossed before 08:00 PM. Any participant exceeding this time limit, even if crossing the finish line, will be downgraded.

TIMING

All participants will be issued with an electronic chip when they pick up their race numbers (the chip should be attached to your helmet), which will be automatically initialised on the start line and will track the conformity of the race at each antenna along the event’s route and at the finish line.

Caution : In order to allow the timing chip to function properly it must not be folded or bent.

Participants who do not follow the route defined by the organiser, who use human assistance, or who cross the finish line without their chip will not be recorded as having finished. It is allowed to participate on an e-bike, but in that case you cannot compete for the leader's jerseys.

The electronic detection system has been chosen according to strict reliability requirements. Despite tests conducted by the manufacturers, a very low percentage of cases of non-detection remains. Due to the lack of information resulting from this non-detection, the organiser may be unable to show the official or real time for the participant concerned in the ranking. The organiser cannot be held responsible for this.
