THE NORTHERN ROUTE 125 KM

The route from Aalborg to Viborg is the only one of our road routes heading from north to south. It features a fascinating mix of physical challenges, historical sights and attractions and breath-taking scenery at every turn of the pedals.

The 125 km route and its steep climbs will certainly challenge your inner viking. The route passes through the beautiful landscape of the ancient road Hærvejen with rolling cornfields, beech forests, hills, lakes and idyllic villages.

Your inner Viking will be nurtured along the way, when you pass close by some of the most famous viking sights and attractions in Denmark.

While the hardships of this demanding gran fondo will definitely put you to the test, the route also offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the ride. Three places along the way, you roll through one of our feed stations, famous not only for their great food but also for their even better atmosphere.

0 km: The start in Aalborg

Here we go! You're off on the 125 kilometer route along the Ancient Road, Hærvejen. There will be plenty of life, music and Tour de France atmosphere, so you're being prepared for a great day on the bike. 125 beautiful kilometers awaits.

41 km: 1st KOM - Col de Rebild

The absolute toughest challenge of the route. At 1,200 meters and an average climb of 6,1 %, this hill challenges most riders. Especially in the last 200 meters. After the summit, you can enjoy the feed station in the beautiful surroundings.

43 km: 1st feed station

The feed station in Rebild is located in beautiful surroundings, where everyone can take a much needed break after Col de Rebild. Sit down and enjoy the atmosphere and the views. And don't forget to fuel up with the delicious drinks and snacks.

63 km: Extra feed station

Yes! The country's allegedly best ice cream should put a smile on your lips in Vebbestrup. The ice cream makers of Vebbestrup Ice Cream have opened their doors, and a free soft-ice is waiting for you. This is a must stop for all participants.

76 km: 2nd feed station

The last feed station of the route is located on the exact location, where a new bike park is being built. Usually, you can enjoy some real food and local Danish delecacies at this feed station. Enjoy a break before the last stretch to the finish.

128 km: Finish in Viborg

Congratulations - you made it! Soak up the atmosphere as your ride the red carpet through the old city center ultimately finishing in the race village for a big celebration.

Now it's time to unclip and celebrate your achievement. This is where participants from all routes finish and meet. You can enjoy a well deserved meal and a cold drink while taking it all in.
